Fast, Furious, Fucked

I have a problem with Fast and Furious.  Well, not so much that movie by itself, but also the previous 3 in the “series”.  I’m not just referring to the fact that the two lead actors have about as much talent for their chosen profession as I do for brain surgery, but also that every year Top Gear is lambasted for their alleged “promotion” of dangerous driving and yet movies like this always seem to escape that same treatment.

Last I checked, Top Gear have never promoted the idea of driving while intoxicated or speeding excessively on public roads, yet this is the core of the Fast and Furious movies.  Sure, Top Gear have done some ill-advised things (amphibious vehicles, home-made stretch limos), but at no point were they actually breaking any laws.  Fast and Furious glamourises illegal street racing.  I fail to see why Top Gear is constantly defending itself from criticism while Fast and Furious recieves nothing but adoration from both the media and general public.

The double standard is shocking.

Then we move onto the lead actors for Fast and Furious, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, both of whom have the emotional range of a dish-cloth.  Clarkson, Hammond and May are much more engaging and entertaining.

So, in conclusion, Fast and Furious sucks and Top Gear is a much better program about cars.  Save yourself some money and stay home on Monday night instead of hitting your local theatre.
